We are thrilled to share some highlights from our third in-person meeting, held in the beautiful city of Coimbra, Portugal. A special thank you goes to the University of Coimbra, particularly to Lino Ferreira, Susana, and Laura, for their outstanding organization and warm hospitality.
This meeting was incredibly exciting, as we reviewed our significant progress in the project. The developments presented were remarkable, leading to lively and highly focused discussions among the team. It’s truly inspiring to see such dedication and collaboration within the consortium, with each partner contributing towards the common goal of advancing spinal cord injury therapy.
But the meeting wasn’t all work! We were fortunate to experience a tour of the stunning University of Coimbra, one of the oldest universities in Europe, founded in 1290. The visit included stops at the university’s most iconic locations, such as the Grand Hall, the 16th-century São Miguel Chapel, and the magnificent Joanina Library. The library, built in the 18th century, is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and houses an impressive collection of 60,000 books from the 16th to 18th centuries. Its gilded shelves and intricate woodwork are breathtaking, and we even learned about the bats that protect the ancient volumes by feeding on paper-eating insects at night! This tour was a true highlight, offering us a glimpse into the university’s long history and its rich academic legacy.
Thank you again to all our partners and hosts for a fantastic meeting and an unforgettable experience at this remarkable institution!
