We are thrilled to announce that two key members of our Piezo4Spine team, Elisa Lopez-Dolado from SESCAM and our project coordinator Conchi Serrano from ICMM-CSIC, recently participated in the annual meeting of ASPAYM (Association of Patients with Spinal Cord Injury and Other Disabilities). This event was a significant platform for presenting the latest advancements in spinal cord injury (SCI) research and showcasing the groundbreaking work being done by the Piezo4Spine project.
During the meeting, which targeted paraplegic patients, Elisa and Conchi shared our innovative approach to developing new treatments for SCI. The Piezo4Spine project focuses on creating a revolutionary multifactorial therapy that utilizes a bioprinted 3D mesh (3D-theramesh) containing nanocarriers. These nanocarriers deliver therapeutic agents directly to the lesion site, promoting neural repair and functional recovery through mechanotransduction and inhibition of inhibitory scarring.
The audience had the opportunity to learn about our pioneering work in this field: cutting-edge technologies in nanotechnology, molecular biology, and tissue engineering.
We are incredibly proud of the recognition and support from the SCI community and remain committed to advancing our research and treatment strategies.
